Paula Deen, who is known (and often criticized) for her butter-heavy Southern recipes, opened up to People's February 4 issue about her family's recent diet and lifestyle changes. The Food Network personality, along with her husband and two sons, claimed to have shed 178-pound total, 40 of which are from the 66-year-old herself. Deen was diagnosed with type-2 diabetes in 2011 and came under fire from fans and critics who claimed the host brought the disease on herself through unhealthy eating habits, which she in turn continued to promote on her show. The announcement shook the media but Deen took to "The Today Show" in 2012 and said the diagnosis wouldn't change her TV cooking habits and she always believed in "moderation." Deen also became the face of Victoza, a prescription medication to treat diabetes, in 2012.

The Deen family lifestyle changes will also be documented in a new cookbook featuring her updated recipes titled, The New Testament, due out in the fall.

What do you think of Deen's weight loss?
