Channing Tatum has worked his way up to Hollywood heartthrob status. The 32-year-old celebrity started his storied career as a construction-worker-turned-stripper (inspiration for the film "Magic Mike"), was then discovered by a model scout, morphed from a model into an actor, and on Nov. 14 he was crowned People magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive."
Tatum joins the ranks of former "sexiest men" like Boston's own Matt Damon (2007) and Ben Affleck (2002), and two-time winners Johnny Depp (2009, 2003), George Clooney (2006, 1997), and Brad Pitt (2000, 1995).
Tatum was bestowed another magazine honor this fall, dubbed GQ's "Movie Star of the Year." He's the face of one of three covers for the magazine's December issue, on newsstands now.
Affleck, who was dubbed the GQ "Filmmaker of the Year" -- one of the "Men of the Year" honors -- will appear on a separate cover of his own Nov. 16. The actor and director got his start as an actor with the Boston-based film "Good Will Hunting," which he co-wrote with Damon.
The third "Man of the Year" cover goes to a woman: Rihanna. She is the magazine's "Obsession of the year."
