Chaz Bono, the child of Cher and Sonny Bono who changed his gender from female to male, is now speaking out about his weight.

"I don't like to talk about this issue," said Bono, 43. "It's very personal for me."

Bono is five-feet, three-inches tall and weighs 250 pounds. He told "Entertainment Tonight" that being transgender has nothing to do with his weight --that he was overweight before he changed his gender.

He has turned to TV to fight his weight battle in the past, appearing on "Celebrity Fit Club" in 2006. He was also on "Dancing with the Stars" last year, which helped him burn calories. Now he's turning to Dr. Travis Stork from "The Doctors" to help him lose 50 to 80 pounds.

Chaz said he works out, but genes play a part in his obesity. He said he takes after his dad's side of the family, calling his mom's mom "skinny." He also told he was under a lot of pressure to be "underweight" growing up and was put on many diets.

He will begin his weight-loss journey Nov. 14 on "The Doctors," which airs on channel 7 (WHDH) at 2 p.m., and will journal his weight loss for the next year for the show. ("Dancing with the Stars" photo: AP photo/ABC, Adam Taylor)
