Singer Katy Perry and actor Russell Brand sat separately at the Los Angeles Lakers game Oct. 30

The Staples Center in Los Angeles was full of excitement last night, and not just because of what was happening on the court.

Fans of Katy Perry and Russell Brand were no doubt eyeing the former couple, who both attended the Los Angeles Lakers' NBA season opener against the Dallas Mavericks, but sat separately.

It may have been the first time they've appeared publicly at the same place since divorcing earlier this year, reports E! News. The stars sat on opposite sides of the court and did not interact.

We're surprised Perry didn't bring her on-again-off-again beau John Mayer to the game.

Katy Perry split with singer John Mayer in August after a summer romance. However, last month the couple was spotted hanging out several times, going out to dinner, seeing live shows, and even checking out a strip club in Vegas, reports

Do you think Perry and Brand would have said hi had they run into each other?
