Country singer and "American Idol" alum Kellie Pickler, 26, showed her dedication to her friend this week.
She shaved her signature blond locks to support childhood friend Summer Miller, who was diagnosed with breast cancer and starts chemotherapy treatments this week.
She did it to support her friend, but also to spread the word about early detection of the disease, telling ABC News that “cancer does not discriminate.”
Kellie hopped on Twitter after the cut, which ABC reported she had done alongside Miller in Nashville, and tweeted:
It's been a great life-changing day.— kellie pickler (@kelliepickler) September 5, 2012
Fans and fellow celebrities are reacting to Pickler's show of solidarity, dropping positive comments on social media. Ellen DeGeneres tweeted to Pickler:
-- Kristen Stewart wears Rob's shirt and a finger splint on her way to TIFF (Pop Sugar)
-- Kelly Clarkson has a nonstop dance party with her boyfriend (People.com)
-- James Franco sued by ex-NYU professor, compared to Clint Eastwood's chair (E! Online)
-- Bradley Cooper: Why I chose to become sober (People.com)
