Partners in life, but not onscreen
Actress Jennifer Garner talked about pregnancy and her marriage to Ben Affleck at the Telluride Film Festival, where she screened her new comedy, “Butter.’’ Garner told the Daily Beast that we probably won’t be seeing her and Affleck on screen together anytime soon. “I think he’s such a great director, and whenever I read his writing I’m just so happy for whoever gets to say his lines, but no. . . . He and I can’t work together. We can’t because people don’t want to see it, and I would feel ludicrous being in a scene with him at this point.’’ Of her pregnancy, which was announced last month, the mother of two said: “So far so good! I feel good and I’m still pretty early, but I’m at the point where it’s clicking along without thinking every day, ‘Oh, my gosh, I’m only this far!’ ’’ Garner said Affleck is shooting “Argo,’’ his movie about a CIA operative who helps rescue hostages in Iran. As for “Butter,’’ critics at Telluride who saw the film have said that Garner’s character is a dead ringer for Michele Bachmann. Affleck, meanwhile, was looking very ’70s as he shot a scene in LA this week with his “Argo’’ costar Alan Arkin.
