In Danvers: lax, cameras, action

The cast and crew of the local lacrosse movie “Crooked Arrows’’ were in Danvers on Saturday to shoot a huge game scene at St. John’s Prep. Extras, who piled into the stands to play lax fans, watched as stars Brandon Routh, Chelsea Ricketts, Crystal Allen, and Gil Birmingham shot the scene with dozens of real-life lacrosse players from the area. Producers told us that in the movie - which follows a Native American lacrosse team’s battle against a prep school - St. John’s Prep will be called Coventry Academy. Routh, who’s best known for starring in “Superman Returns’’ with Massachusetts’s own Kate Bosworth, had brunch yesterday at Nick’s on Broadway in Providence.
