Ploughshares party
Emerson’s literary magazine Ploughshares is planning to celebrate its 40th anniversary with a fund-raiser at the St. Botolph Club, and judging from the guest list it’ll be a good time. Emerson alum Denis Leary is on board to host the November event, and Sebastian Junger and Andre Dubus III are among the writers who’ll read excerpts from stories and poems published in the mag. (Leary’s wife, Ann, and author Alice Hoffman are cochairing the event.) Every Writer’s Resource recently compiled a list of the Top 50 literary magazines, and Ploughshares was No. 2, behind The New Yorker but ahead of The Atlantic and Harper’s.
