She’s grown up on the gridiron, so it’s only appropriate that Alexa Flutie will be on the sidelines when — or if — the NFL season kicks off. The 23-year-old daughter of Heisman hero Doug Flutie is the newest New England Patriots cheerleader. (The 2011 team was formally introduced last night at CBS Scene at Foxborough.) Alexa told us she attended all of her dad’s home games — the QB played for the Pats from ’87-’89 and in ’05 — and spent at least some of that time watching the cheerleaders. “That was something I always looked up to and wanted to do,’’ said Flutie, a graduate of Dean College who’d tried out a few times before. Asked about dad’s reaction when she made the team, Alexa said he was all in favor. “He’s very supportive and excited.’’
