Viggo Mortensen is not looking forward to the Oscars on Sunday (24.02.08).
The 49-year-old star - who has been nominated for Best Actor for his role in 'Eastern Promises' - is scared by the prospect of arriving on the glitzy ceremony's red carpet.
He said: "Like most people - unless they're very practiced at it or have no warm blood in their veins - I feel a little bit apprehensive about the red carpet.
"It's always a bit bewildering when people are taking pictures and asking questions before the ceremony. I'm not very good at giving quick answers and that's what they want. So I end up saying half a sentence and then they go, 'OK, thank you!' And I'm thinking, 'What did I just say?' "
Viggo also believes he has little chance of winning the much-coveted Academy Award, which is also being contested by George Clooney, Johnny Depp, Daniel Day-Lewis and Tommy Lee Jones.
He added to the Guardian's Film and Music magazine: "I'm realistic. I know I'm the odds-on favourite to remain seated throughout the ceremony."
