Kathy Griffin says ex took her money

Kathy Griffin says her 4 1/2-year marriage ended in divorce after she discovered her now ex-husband was taking money from her bank accounts. In an interview on CNN's ``Larry King Live" that aired Monday night, the comedian accused Matt Moline of taking $72,000 over a period of time. ``My ex-husband, without my knowledge, was sneaking into my wallet when I was asleep in the mornings and taking my ATM cards of my own private accounts and withdrawing money," Griffin alleged. ``That money totaled $72,000 . . . over about a year and a half." He ``admitted it and apologized," she said. They went to couples therapy but couldn't ``get beyond the trust issue." In a statement released to CNN, Moline said he was upset about Griffin's comments. ``Since our divorce, I have not made any public comments about my ex-wife or our marriage," he said. ``It saddens me that she would choose to make such accusations at this time. I have no intention of engaging in a public debate over private matters." Griffin and Moline were married in February 2001. She filed for divorce last September, citing irreconcilable differences. They have no children.

Jackie Chan disrupts Hong Kong concert
Jackie Chan disrupted a concert by Taiwanese singer-songwriter Jonathan Lee in Hong Kong and exchanged insults with the audience. The 52-year-old action star was quoted in a news report as saying onstage that he was drunk. Chan jumped on the stage Monday night and demanded a duet with Lee. He then tried to conduct the band but stopped and restarted the music several times, Ming Pao Daily News reported yesterday. As the awkward interruption dragged on, audience members started to heckle Chan, who replied with an insult, according to the report.

`The Real World' meets `Cops'
A cast member on MTV's ``The Real World" was arraigned on a misdemeanor assault charge after police said she bit her boyfriend during a domestic dispute in Cromwell, Conn. Paula Ann Meronek, 25, allegedly bit her boyfriend several times when he refused to let her into their home early Sunday morning, police said. ``I think it was an argument that led to one thing then another," said Cromwell police chief Anthony Salvatore. ``He attempted to keep her from the house. It got physical and we were contacted." Meronek, who was arraigned Monday, was charged with third-degree assault, which carries a potential penalty of a year in prison. She is due back in court Aug. 11. No lawyer was listed in court documents. Her boyfriend, John Alyward, was charged with disorderly conduct. ``The Real World," now in its 17th season, puts seven strangers together in an exotic locale -- this time in a Key West, Fla., beach house. George Cabico, a spokesman for the show's producers, said filming is complete and the arrest will not affect the show.

Dan Rather goes AOL?
America Online is discussing a role for former CBS anchor Dan Rather at the Internet news service. AOL spokeswoman Katie Griesbeck offered no details on what Rather might do at AOL. The discussions were reported yesterday by the Hollywood Reporter. Rather confirmed yesterday that he's joining Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban for a weekly program that begins in October on HDNet. Rather will produce the program and be its host. Rather has also agreed to be a panelist for the next two weeks on the syndicated weekender ``The Chris Matthews Show." He was interviewed about North Korea on Anderson Cooper's CNN show last week and will be on CNN's ``Larry King Live" today. CBS News and Rather, 74, broke ties after 44 years last month, unable to agree on his future role at the network. His final years there were soured by the controversy over CBS' s discredited story on President Bush's military service.

Keith Richards has his head together
On the eve of the relaunching of the Rolling Stones' European tour, Keith Richards said he's recovered completely from a head injury suffered in a fall -- and shrugged off a question about whether he had worried about dying. ``I feel great. I can't wait to get back on the stage again. Basically everything is cool," Richards said. The 62-year-old guitarist fell from a tree April 27 while vacationing in Fiji, forcing the Stones to postpone their European tour. He later had surgery in New Zealand to relieve pressure on his brain. The Stones were to resume their ``A Bigger Bang" tour yesterday in Milan. The 21-date tour wraps up Sept. 3 in Denmark. Asked what he's been doing since the fall, Richards responded, ``I recovered. . . . Six weeks, I mean not bad for a brain job." Did he ever worry about dying? ``Good one," he said, good-naturedly. The Stones were in a jovial mood, and when the inevitable question came -- what was Richards doing up in a coconut tree and did he find what he wanted? -- everyone was ready to set the record straight. ``If you saw the tree, you'd realize the joke. Fiji is not just made of coconut trees. It was a little tree," Richards said. Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood were eager to illustrate the point, indicating a height less than half of Richards.
