Scenes from "A Death in Belmont"
On March 11, 1963, a 63-year-old woman named Bessie Goldberg was raped and strangled in her Belmont home. Roy Smith, an African-American man who had been sent to the house that day on a cleaning job, was convicted of murder. Albert Desalvo, who later confessed to being the Boston Strangler, was working alone on a remodeling project at the Junger Home in Belmont. In this photo of Ellen Junger and baby Sebastian, Albert DeSalvo appears behind them at right, next to Floyd Wiggins, who was DeSalvo's boss.
