The New England Historical Genealogical Society has published a new edition of "Ancestors of American Presidents." Author Gary Boyd Roberts has come up with a number of findings about our new president, including:

= Barack Obama and George W. Bush are 11th cousins, sharing early ancestors from Plymouth County, Mass.

= Obama and Lyndon Johnson are among the closest kin, with ties that go back only 200 years. They are fourth cousins, three times removed.

= Thirty of our 43 presidents are related, distantly but often several times over, to one or more other presidents. Obama is related to James Madison, Harry S Truman, Lyndon B. Johnson, Gerald R. Ford, Jr., Jimmy Carter, and both Bushes.
