Several books and Massachusetts authors about whom I or colleagues have written in the last year have been named winners of the Massachusetts Book Awards, given by the Massachusetts Center for the Book. Read about the award, and the full list of 12 winners, here.
Winners we've profiled in the past year include:
Eve LaPlante of Brookline receives the nonfiction award, for "Salem Witch Judge," a biography of her ancestor, Judge Samuel Sewall. Eric Dolin, who lives in Marblehead, receives nonfiction honors, for "Leviathan," a history of Yankee whaling.
The awards ceremony will take place in the Great Hall of the State House, in Boston, Nov. 20 at 2 p.m.
