How about The Aroostook Review in Maine
Thanks much for listing The American Dissident! Now, how to get The Boston Globe to review it and write an article on it? As for Tracy's 10 Best Lit Journals, evidently hers is a highly subjective and established-order choice. Agni and Ploughshares are so high in the heavens of the established order today they refuse to even respond to criticism. Yet it is time one questions and challenges journals like them instead of simply opening wide and saying AHHH, then ingurgitating to the beat of some MFA professor without the guts to question and challenge. DEMOCRACY depends on vigorous debate, including questioning and challenging of all entrenched icons and institutions, including the Massachusetts Cultural Council, PEN New England, and the 10 BEST LIT JOURNALS selection! Academe has been failing terribly in that endeavor! Indeed, the nation's educational system is a vast failure, not because it doesn’t produce hoards of literate graduates capable in science and math, but rather because it successfully produces herds of unquestioning and unchallenging citizens, fearful of standing and thinking alone, easily diverted and easily moved. Sadly, the Average Joe Professor of English at the University of Massachusetts would simply dismiss this comment by dismissing the messenger as a loser and a whiner. Sadly, from my experience, that's common practice in academe today! Thanks again!

Should literature and academe both be in the CENSORSHIP business? Of course, they shouldn't! But they clearly are in that business. You, for example, CENSORED my comment (1/3/10). What makes a CENSOR tick? I'm truly curious. Does it feel good to CENSOR? Is it somehow satisfying to CENSOR? If so, how so? I'm really curious. Why does the trend in America seem to be CENSORSHIP? How does CENSORSHIP affect democracy? Does increasing CENSORSHIP lead to fascism? Well, I suppose I shouldn't post this comment because it might irk you to eliminate The American Dissident on the above list. But, well, that's not how I operate. Free speech for me is far more important than it evidently is for you. So, you might ask, if curious, what makes me tick?
