Boston without Fenway Park is simply unthinkable. In preparation for the park’s 100th anniversary in 2012, sports journalist Harvey Frommer rounded up 140 Red Sox players, fans, and baseball writers for “Remembering Fenway Park: An Oral and Narrative History of the Home of the Boston Red Sox’’ (Stewart, Tabori & Chang). It will come as no surprise to any New Englander that the first Opening Day in April 1912 was rained out. Thankfully, when the game was played eight days later, the Red Sox beat the Yankees, then called the Highlanders. “Remembering’’ has everything a fan could want: iconic images, funny stories, and a sense of reverence.
